Babies are fascinated by baby mobiles that hang over their crib or changing station. And baby mobiles are designed exactly for that reason, to stimulate and engage your baby’s interest.
Brightly Colored Mobiles or Black & White?
There are so many different types of baby mobiles that it is really up to you as to which one you prefer.
Do you prefer pastel colors, or bright colors, animals, or fishes, or characters, what tunes do you like?
Of course, its not for you but as parents what normally happens is that you tend to have a preference for picking a crib mobile that is most likely to match the color theme of your baby’s nursery. Baby mobiles also make ideal gifts for newborn babies.
Studies have shown that babies can see black and white more clearly than they can other colors, therefore having a mobile which has patterns in black and white colors might hold your baby’s attention a while longer.
Pastel colors are too light (although you might like them because they are soft and subtle) and bright colors, such as orange and yellow are good for stimulating baby too.

In any case, having a baby mobile hanging over your baby’s crib is a great idea because your baby has something interesting to look at instead of the ceiling. First thing in the morning when your baby wakes up, the baby mobile will catch its attention.
Many of them play soothing music, often classical, and are great for using when you put your baby down for a nap. Watching the mobile and it’s attachments, swirling around whilst listening to the soothing music can often help get your baby off to a soothing rest.
If you have a friend or family member who has a baby the same age as yours, it might be a good idea to swap your mobiles. Your baby will have been staring at the same mobile for months now and if you can swap this with someone and borrow theirs for a few months, it will be a welcome boost to both babies as they have something completely different, new and exciting to look at.
